Public Swimming Complex
Public Swimming Pools in Singapore typically consist of a Wading pool (~0.4m in depth), a Teaching pool (~0.9m in depth) and a 50m Competitive lap pool (varying depth of 1.2m to 1.8m). Both the wading and the teaching pool are family friendly, where most parents can stand comfortably while holding their child. The 50m lap pools are more for the sport enthusiast and advanced swimmers where they can swim continuously to clock thier swim mileage. Swimming lessons are also often conducted in the teaching pool and lap pool by NROC certified coaches.
Managed by Sport Singapore, our public swimming complexes have gone through major upgrades over the years. With land constraint problems in Singapore, the need of having an all-in-one sports facilities becomes ever more important. The key concept lies on allocating each sports facility on each level, similiar to a HDB flat. Thus, a 6 storey building was constructed.
